Springtime at The Bridge

Posted on

With the trees in bloom and the end of lockdown in sight we are feeling hopeful at The Bridge.

Our Donations Hub has introduced us to a wealth of new friends and we've enjoyed chatting in the sunshine and hearing people's stories. The generosity of our neighbours is so heartwarming and knowing that we are making a difference to people who are really strugglling is, for us, what keeps us going.

And the generous contributions in our Crowd Funder have been so appreciated. They've really helped us meet our core costs and plan towards the future. Thank you so so much much.

Next week, we will re-open for two outdoor stay and plays and we cannot wait to hear the sound of children laughing, playing (and even throwing tantrums!) and the grown ups chatting and reconnecting. We all need to reconnect. But we take our responsibilities seriously. All our volunteers have had their first vaccine dose and we are stringent in our cleaning and procedures.

We've cemented some wonderful partnerships over the past year - Clockhouse Community Centre, HER Centre, MumsAid, Deborah Ubee Trust, GRACE, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Access Sports. We are working on exciting new activities for SEND families and young people struggling with their mental health.

Ruth is busily working on the SENSORY GARDEN which will add great value to the site. And we are busily applying for grants to keep the centre going so that we can remain active.

We continue to work on ways to support the community. Bring on the friendship and fun.

The future is bright if we take our time and work together (from a safe distance of course!) The emotional, phyiscal and financial impact of COVID is far-reaching and long-lasting but we hope the spirit of community that has blossomed, will remain.

Lots of love,

Lucie, Ruth & The Bridge Team xx
